Intelligent Video Surveillance |

The
intense scrutiny being placed upon existing security
measures combined with the changing nature of the threat
is driving innovation in the market. Both State and
Federal Governments along with security firms are
re-examining their approach to security, looking for
ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of
existing resources while reducing the likelihood of
security breaches.
Motivated by these needs NEC Labs in America developed a
software technology that can automatically analyse video
input streams looking for pre-programmed behaviours that
constitute a security breach. This software has been
bundled into a product called ?#8364;˜SmartCatch' which will be
luanched in Australia in May 2006.
The ?#8364;˜SmartCatch' product provides ten (10) behaviour
modules that detect suspicious activities indoors and
out. These behaviours include Crowd Detection,
Loitering, Perimeter Intrusion and the like. All of
which can be easily integrated into existing CCTV
systems.
